The Mayo brothers were Charles Horace Mayo and William James Mayo, who with the help of their partners, co-founded the Mayo Clinic. The original partners in the practice were the Mayo brothers, Drs. Stinchfield, Judd, Graham, Plummer, Millet and Balfour. In 1919, the remaining partners in the private practice established the Mayo Properties Association and became a not-for-profit institution. The Mayo Clinic grew out of this private practice, which was originally started by the Mayo's father, William Worrall Mayo, in 1863 in Rochester, Minnesota, USA.
